Reliability, flexibility, power, and efficiency—all at your fingertips. Backed by decades of innovative approach and product leadership in marine engines, Mercury V8 and V6 FourStroke outboard engines deliver legendary performance and forward-thinking technology. FourStroke outboard engines are designed for all types of water and a wide variety of boat types.
Adaptive Speed Control maintains the desired revolutions per minute (rpm) without requiring any adjustment to the throttle lever, regardless of changes in load or conditions—a first in the outboard motor industry.
V8 and V6 FourStroke engines are quieter and smoother than the leading competitor.
The special top-opening service cover facilitates routine maintenance, allowing you to check or change the engine oil without removing the cover. The hour-based maintenance schedule label is located under the cover, allowing you to easily check routine maintenance.
When the battery voltage is low, the motors automatically increase the idle speed to boost the alternator and charge the batteries to the appropriate level. This protects the batteries and electrical devices from draining during fishing.
FourStroke models feature a powerful alternator that provides 20 amps of net charging output at idle and 30 amps at maximum speed.

Advanced Range Optimization, offered by Mercury Marine, uses closed-loop fuel control to precisely adjust the fuel mixture and achieve the best possible fuel economy.
Adaptive Speed Control maintains the engine's revolutions per minute (rpm) regardless of load or condition changes, such as choppy water, sharp turns, towing water sports, and flying over the water surface at lower speeds, without the need to frequently change the throttle position—a first in the outboard motor industry.
At Mercury, our engineers calculate every gram and reduce the weight of our FourStroke outboard motors to ensure that each motor is the lightest in its class.
Idle charging battery management technology prevents boat owners' batteries from draining while power tools are in use. When the battery voltage is low, it automatically increases the idle speed to boost the alternator output and recharge low-level batteries.
